Going viral is a short game created in 72 hours for the minijam Bugs with the limitation being that you must play as a bad guy.

Take the role of the evil genius looking to release his latest spyware onto the world, during the upload process things go wrong and errors occur, find and fix the errors as quick as possible to avoid bugs from infecting the system.  If too many bugs enter the system you will fail your objective.

Really cool graphic style!

I liked the whole environment around the character, a nice artwork. The console challenges are quite easy to solve, but I had a great time with this game!

So, I'm a bit ahead of the evaluation period, but I figured I'd give this one a shot.

  • Excellent graphics. They look incredibly polished.
  • The music was a good choice and fit the mood very well. However, it failed to loop, and I spent most of the game without music playing.
  • I love how the alarm sound effect is panned such that you can tell which monitor is the one giving the alarm by ear.
  • The 'scan' mechanic was nice, but either had too few levels, or was too random in how it used them. I ended up playing the same 2 levels over and over while getting others only once. I got the one with the two blocks sliding up and down about six times in my playthrough.
  • I think the upload goes up way too slowly, or you don't have enough to do. I ended up opening a reddit window on my other monitor and scrolling while I waited, because I was getting stretches of thirty seconds with nothing happening.

All in all, a great concept and great presentation, but hurt by the two big issues higlighted above.

Great job!

Seconding all of the above. Very enjoyable when I wasn't having to wait around for an error, though!

Thank you for taking the time to play :) I will make an update later today to increase error activity :)

I appreciate you being ahead of the voting period. It helps me quickly patch any issues from feedback.

> I have fixed the music not looping, cant believe i missed that.

> At first I never planned on 3D sound, but found myself searching and getting frustrated, I was going to include a minimap but then that would of taken some of the explorative nature out of it. Im glad you appreciated the 3D sound :)

> Sadly there was only 6 'scan' mechanic levels. I had planned on doing more but sadly the scan part was added on the last day, before that all you did was press E on a console to disable the error, I think the 'scan' is a bit more involved. Sadly the Random nature isn't as effective when you have 6. I will look at fixing it somehow.

> I just played it myself again and noticed the console errors are quite far between than i initially had experience before. I will patch this a little later today :)

Thank you for your great feedback, with a few patches you feedback will help others have a better experience :)
