Running Hot
This game was created in 72 hours for the minijam 131: Solar with the limitation being Failure is progress!
For the Absolute Best Performance it is recommended to play on the desktop version of this game.
"Running Hot" is a fast-paced speed running and parkour game with a unique twist. The player must navigate a chaotic obstacle course while racing against the clock, but there's a catch - the player's character only has a short lifespan. When the character dies, they explode, leaving behind a flame that can be collected by the player to extend their lifespan and allow them to run a little further on the next attempt.
The game features challenging levels with a variety of obstacles, including jumps, slides, and wall runs, all designed to test the player's reflexes and parkour skills. The game also includes a time trial mode, where players can compete for the best time on each level.
Controls:
WASD = Move
SHIFT / X = (Toggle) to begin sprinting mode with limited duration.
CTRL / ALT / C = Slide for a small duration, must be sprinting to begin.
SPACEBAR = Jump

Really fun
Great Game! I had alot of fun playing it, the controls are nice and smooth, the limitation is very nicely exectuted- that being said I had no clue how to get beyond the gate lol (o^▽^o)
thank you! You need to drop a flame (die) inside the portal looking structures connected to the doors. You can follow a line on the floor from the door back to the portal looking structures.
Nice game! I love the idea of "every death makes it easier". Also visually very impressive and the controls feel quite good.
Not a fan of restarting from the beginning instead of from last checkpoint every time!
